Parking systems – control and earn money on your parking lot

Parking systems – control and earn money on your parking lot. More and more cars have been arriving on the streets for some time and therefore there is a shortage of parking spaces. Payable parking zones in cities make free parking spaces more and more valuable. Customers of shops, hotels and various types of facilities want to park the car as close to the destination as possible and it is worth fulfilling this need. Therefore, with them in mind, recently there are parking systems, which enable paid car parking and collect payments. Unlike a parking attendant, these systems are completely airtight and consistently enforce the parking fee. What else is worth knowing about parking systems?

Automatic control and earning

Parking systems are an effective solution that reduces the maintenance costs of small and large parking lots. Their installation is quick and easy. The devices consist of a simple mechanical system that is almost failure-free and integrated electronics. It is an excellent solution that automatically supports drivers during intense traffic. Thanks to this, it is possible to increase profits while reducing the cost of maintaining the parking lot.

Self-service entry terminal

The key element when entering the car park is the terminal that prints single-use parking tickets with a barcode. Most modern models also have the function of reading loyalty cards. The terminal is activated when the car hovers over the first induction loop, thanks to which the driver can pick up the printed ticket with the date and time of entry, contained in the barcode. In the case of a subscription, the driver presents the card earlier and the ticket is not printed. After removing the ticket from the terminal or reading the card data, the barrier is lifted and the car can freely enter the parking lot. Then, after reaching the second induction loop, the barrier slowly descends.

Parking systems software

Parking systems could not function without the proper software. There are two solutions in this aspect. The first one may be a computer dedicated to the system or software installed on one of the company’s computers

Thanks to the software, you can set rates for a specific parking time, discounts, the ability to cancel charges, eg for a specific amount of purchases in a store, etc. The software also allows you to carry out analyzes and create various types of reports that enable the settlement of the operator’s cash register. For this reason, parking systems are becoming more and more used in parking lots. The software can be integrated with electronic boards that inform drivers about the number of free parking spaces, e.g. on a given level in the case of multi-storey car parks. Thanks to this, traffic on the parking lanes is smooth.

Automatic collection or collection of fees

Parking systems may have an automatic toll collection option. For this purpose, at the exit, a terminal with a cash register is installed, to which the driver must present a barcode ticket. Then, a fee is charged according to the parking time, which the driver sees on the display. After the payment is made, the barrier is released and the car can freely leave the parking lot. When you hover over the induction loop at the exit, the barrier is lowered. This means that the driver who has not paid the fee cannot leave the parking lot by himself. The self-service checkout saves drivers time, as they do not have to look for points where they can pay the parking fee. Another model for the operation of an exit terminal is merely checking that the ticket has been paid for. For this, the driver must go to the appropriate cash desk, e.g.at the buffet and pay the fee. Then he receives a ticket with a barcode, which he has to hold against the scanner of the terminal upon entry. Otherwise the barrier will not be released. It is possible to integrate the terminals with lights informing drivers about the possibility of passing or not.

Other components of parking systems

Tickets with barcodes are the cheapest way to service one-time customers using the parking lot. The paper from which the tickets are printed is stored on the roll. Then, after performing a specific action, a ticket is printed, which contains such information as: date, time, number of the entry line, etc. The printing mechanism is equipped with a special sensor that sends a signal in the event of the end of paper supply. Depending on the model, some systems require you to enter the car’s registration numbers. In this case, additional elements are cameras placed at the height of the license plates. Thanks to this, the system checks whether the registration number of the car is consistent with the number provided on the ticket. If the numbers do not match, the barrier is blocked and the driver cannot leave the parking lot.

Parking systems is an excellent solution that successfully replaces parking workers and reduces the cost of maintaining a car park. They automatically collect parking fees and improve traffic. As a result, they are increasingly used in various types of car parks, the purpose of which is to generate income.
